New Introductory Classes

SVF has added new introductory classes for the months of September, October, and November! If you're interested in fencing or want to try it out for the first time, these classes are for you. SVF Updated Season Schedule

SVF has updated our class schedule for the upcoming 2011-2012 fencing season! The new schedule takes effect starting Monday, August 8th. You can download a printable PDF of the schedule here:

SVF's Pre-Season Training Camp!

SVF will hold our first pre-season training camp starting on August 8th! This camp is designed to help you get in shape for the upcoming competitive season, and focuses on physical conditioning, endurance, and strength- and speed-building exercises in addition to fencing. Bring your fencing gear along with regular athletic shoes, shorts, and a hat. We'll be cross-training outdoors for a few days at Bullis Charter School, less than ten minutes' walk from SVF. We'll have access to a track, soccer field, and basketball courts for outdoor exercise and activities.

The camp is five full-day sessions, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, with a one hour lunch break at 12:00pm. Camp starts Monday, August 8th and continues through Friday, August 12th. SVF's regular fencing practices will continue to be held in the evening.

Fees: $400 for the five-day camp.

Bay Cup Season Results Correction

Belated congratulations to SVF fencer Andrew Tran, who made 3rd place in the Bay Cup season standings for Y10 Boys' Foil (we missed it the first time!) Nice job, Andrew!

SVF's Pre-Nationals Camp starts June 20th!

SVF's Pre-Nationals training camp starts tomorrow, June 20th!

We'll be fencing from 9:00am to 4:00pm with a lunch break from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Fencers please bring a water bottle (it'll be hot!), extra t-shirts, and money for lunch. Hope to see you there!

Morning drop-off time is 8:45am to 9:00am; evening pick-up from 4:00pm to 4:30pm.

Three Bay Cup Medals for SVF Fencers!

SVF fencers earned three medals in the two Bay Cup events held in San Francisco on June 12th!

Geoffrey Tourette and Michael Li won gold and silver, respectively, in the Youth 12 event. Michael Li also took a bronze medal in the earlier Y14 event. Both Geoffrey and Michael earned C2011 ratings--congratulations!
